It was an honor to represent Hancock Public School at the National Blue Ribbon Schools Conference and Awards Ceremony in Washington DC on November 14th and 15th.  The program honors and brings public attention to American schools for their overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups; demonstrating that all students can achieve to high academic standards.  It is part of a larger Department of Education effort to identify and disseminate knowledge about effective school leadership and teaching practices.
The Hancock Public School received the National Blue Ribbon School Distinction as an Exemplary High Performing School.  This award is a direct result of the commitment, dedication, support and extraordinary efforts of students, parents, school leaders, and great teachers.
In a short period of time I have been very impressed with the amount of time and talents to fostering an environment where exceptional learning can take place both in and out of the classroom.  Our students’ success is a result of what happens when families, teachers, and community organizations work together on behalf of our young people.
I had the opportunity to listen to exceptional keynote speakers on topics of “Becoming a Catalyst for Change;” “Equity and Excellence;” and “Life After National Blue Ribbon.”  It was also wonderful to network with school personnel from around the Nation on topics like:  STEM and STEAM activities, College and Career Readiness, Career and Technology Education, Personalized Learning, Mindfulness, Student Engagement and Motivation.  I look forward to sharing more specific information about my experience as a result of being a part of this conference and ceremony in the near future.
Not only do our students excel in the classroom, I was impressed to hear that our Hancock Owl football team will be playing for the Class 9-Man State Football Championship on November 30th.  Another wonderful accomplishment!
Congratulations on this special recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School.  Congratulations to the Owl Football Team, players and coaches.  I wish all of our students and staff continued success.
GO OWLS!
