Dear HES/HHS Parents:

Please review the following information about the first day of the 2021-22 school year.

Students will return to school on TUESDAY, September 7th, 2021.  Our morning bell rings at 8:25 AM.  I encourage students to ride their assigned school bus, to and from school, whenever possible.

Elementary students are dismissed to their buses beginning at 2:55 and High School at 3:13.

PARENTS MUST PROVIDE A NOTE OR AN EMAIL TO THEIR CHILD’S HOMEROOM TEACHER IF THEY ARE NOT RIDING THE BUS.

BUS ROUTES ARE NOW AVAILABLE AND POSTED ON OUR WEBSITE:  hancock.k12.mn.us

Parents picking their children up will enter the MAIN DOORS.  It is important that parents provide a written note explaining alternate dismissal procedures.  If no note is provided, students will be placed on their assigned bus.  If something changes during the school day, PARENTS MUST NOTIFY THE MAIN OFFICE by calling 320-392-5621 at least 20 minutes prior to the end of the school day.

Students that drive/ride to school will use the MAIN ENTRANCE if in elementary and the HIGH SCHOOL ENTRANCE (door east of the main doors) if in grades 7-12.

Students riding the bus will use the EAST ENTRANCE.

To our Preschool and Kindergarten families, I want to reassure you that your children are in good hands.  We will have staff help your child to and from their classroom, at lunch, and during dismissal.

To our grades 7-12 families:

If your child is going to go off campus for lunch, they will need to have the proper formed filled out and signed by a parent in order to leave for lunch on the first day of school.  Students in grades 7-9 that live in town can go home for lunch, but we must have the signed Parent Permission form. This gives the student permission to go home for lunch to their own home ONLY.  Students in grades 10-12 may leave campus with a signed permission form.  If they are driving, they will need to have the Automobile/Motor Vehicle Registration form with a copy of their drivers license.  If your child has already turned in their form but not their driver’s license have them stop into the office so that we can make a copy.  THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DRIVE ON THE FIRST DAY if this form is not turned into the office.  These forms were sent out in our Back to School packet and can also be found on our website under PARENTS.

Students in grades 7-12 will report DIRECTLY to their homeroom assignments.  There will be signs posted throughout the school and teachers will be in the hallways to direct students.  They will be given their locker number and combination in homeroom 1st hour.  Please share this information with your child.  The assignments are as follow:

7th grade – Rm 131 (Mrs. Penny Schmidgall)

8th grade – Rm 206 (Old computer lab, Mrs. Gorghuber)

9th grade – Rm 132 (Mr. Griffith)

10th grade – Rm 112 (Mrs. Burnett)

11th Grade – Rm 133 (STEM lab, Mr. Wymer)

12 grade – Rm 229 (Mrs. Nuest)

Enjoy the last few days of summer, and I look forward to seeing everyone on September 7th.

Mr. Pahl
