The Hancock School Foundation has the privilege of awarding grants to fund a wide variety of requests from our district.  Each one of these in mind of our mission to not only maintain, but enhance the educational opportunities Hancock students.  A small few of the past recipients of these awards have included:

  • A rotating 3 year Science Enrichment Project for grades 3, 4 & 5 which includes field trips to Luther Crest Environment Camp that consists of 4 science centers that meet Minnesota Science standards, Science Museum of Minnesota that includes a science themed base showing at the Omni Theater and everything from microbes to ancient mummys to dinosaurs, physics to cryogenics and everything in between, Como Zoo in St. Paul and Oliver Kelly Farm in Elk River.

 

  • Prairie Fire Childrens Theater performance every other year that gives the students an opportunity to experience theater and cooperation in a production of a play.  This is accomplished under the expertise of two adult actors who work with the students for 5 days with a Friday performance.  All students that choose to participate are given a part in the play.

 

  • The Foundation awards two $500 scholarship for postsecondary education to Hancock seniors.

 

  • Zoomobile from the Minnesota Zoo that enlightens students on different species of animals and their environment.

 

  • 6th grade MN History Enrichment Project that has included visiting the James J. Hill House, Mill City Museum, the State Capital, a Fur Trader from the MN History Center visit their classroom.

 

  • Numerous grants in keeping Hancock School in line with the latest technology by awarding Computers, Laptops, iPads, iPods, Chromebooks, mobile listening centers and much more.

 

  • Music enrichment projects which have included the purchase of steel pan drums, guitars, iPods, digital mix board, music flats.

 

  • Athletic grants given for athletic cameras, online services that allowed to video practice, drills and games to review for volleyball, Hand Help Body Fat Monitors to improve strength, conditioning and endurance for football.

 

  • Curriculum and classroom support in Math, Science, English which include, IXL Math, Math Masters, Macbeth Theater Presentation, leveled readers in classroom libraries, BrainPop, Minecraft Education, STEM summer camps, Handwriting without Tears, Arduinos kits, calculators for ACT.

 

  • Special Education support which includes Learning Palettes, Student Coffee Business start-up equipment for Life Skills, Hokki Stools, updating classroom reading libraries, cooking supplies for the life skills room.
