Congratulations! Hancock Secondary is one of 8 schools nominated by Minnesota to join the esteemed community of National Blue Ribbon Schools.
National Blue Ribbon Schools are public and non-public elementary, middle, and high schools that are producing outstanding results for all students. They have demonstrated consistent excellence, and made progress in closing gaps in student achievement. The National Blue Ribbon Schools recognition program is part of a larger U. S. Department of Education effort to identify and disseminate knowledge about effective school leadership and promising instructional practices.
The program recognizes schools that meet either of two criteria:
- Exemplary High Performing Schools: Schools whose students achieve at very high levels.
- Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing Schools: Schools making significant progress in closing achievement gaps among different groups of students.
Hancock Secondary was nominated as an Exemplary High Performing School. As one of the nominees, we are invited to submit an application to the United States Department of Education Office of National Blue Ribbon Schools by March 29, 2019. In September 2019, the Secretary of Education will announce those schools selected through this application process to be 2019 National Blue Ribbon Schools.
