FULL-TIME SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER
Hancock Public School has an opening for a full-time high school Social Studies teacher beginning with the 2025-26 school year. Licensure in Social Studies by the start of the school year is required. Ability to teach College in the Schools classes is a plus.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated High School Social Studies Teacher & Coach to join our team. This individual will be responsible for teaching high school social studies courses while also contributing to our athletic program as a coach. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic educator who can connect with students, create engaging lesson plans, and inspire a love for learning.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards.
• Foster a classroom environment that encourages critical thinking, discussion, and inquiry-based learning.
• Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Maintain effective classroom management and a positive learning atmosphere.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers, administrators, and parents to support student success.
• Actively participate in professional development and school activities.
Coaching Responsibilities:
• Serve as a head or assistant coach.
• Develop and implement practice plans that promote skill development and teamwork.
• Mentor and support student-athletes both on and off the field.
• Collaborate with the athletic director and other coaches to enhance the overall athletic program.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies, Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Valid state teaching certification or ability to obtain one.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Passion for education and student success.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Ability to teach a variety of social studies subjects.
• Familiarity with integrating technology into the classroom.
• Ability to teach College in the Schools (CIS) classes.

FULL-TIME 7-12 AGRICULTURE TEACHER AND CO-FFA ADVISOR

Hancock Public School has an opening for a full-time 7-12 Agriculture teacher and co-FFA advisor beginning with the 2025-26 school year. Our District is currently seeking an exceptional, dynamic, and highly motivated individual who is passionate about teaching, energetic, and able to maintain our outstanding agricultural education program and award winning FFA program. The successful candidate will work with another full-time Ag teacher. Our programs highlight the career opportunities locally, regionally, and nationally for students in agriculture. Candidates must be self-directed and possess the desire, drive, and creativity to continue to develop our Ag program. The successful candidate will have outstanding support from a community whose economy is based on agriculture. The nature of the position possesses latitude for creativity and the prospect of developing an Ag program of the future. An extended day contract will be offered to the successful candidate.

A complete remodel of existing space and new addition was added to our K-12 facility in 2013 and again in 2019. The 2019 addition included new ag shop facilities.

Qualifications:
- Possess solid classroom management skills.
- Be extremely organized.
- Utilize best practice teaching strategies including differentiated instruction.
- Have a strong background in technology including the use of SMART Boards, Chromebooks, and laptops in the classroom.
- Be creative and forward thinking.
- Be skilled at meeting the diverse needs of all learners.
- Be knowledgeable in the use of data to differentiate and drive instruction.
- Be outgoing and community minded. Willingness to invite/involve parents and community members in the classroom is a must.
- Have a willingness to be involved in other aspects of the Hancock Public School culture and community.
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Enjoy working as a collaborative team member in a K-12 setting.
- Hold, or be able to obtain by the start of the 2025-26 school year, a current Minnesota teaching license, with appropriate endorsement.
Preferred (But Not Required):

*Teacher/Coordinator Work-Based Learning Certified
Responsibilities Include:
- Providing hands-on learning opportunities through classroom activities, labs, and outdoor projects.
- Mentoring and supervising students in FFA activities, competitions, and leadership development.
- Managing and maintaining school agricultural facilities.
- Collaborating with colleagues, local agricultural professionals, and community partners to enhance learning opportunities.
- Staying current with agricultural advancements and incorporating innovative practices into the curriculum.
- Supporting students in career development and exploration within the agricultural industry.
- Teaching Agriculture courses to middle and high school students while providing challenging curriculum for all students.
- Maintaining accurate records of students’ grades and attendance.
- Participating in grade level and department meetings, aligning and deepening curriculum, improving pedagogy.
- Practicing and carrying out rules and procedures as defined by the Hancock Public School District.
- Participating fully in all staff development and staff collaboration such as in-service, staff meetings, department work, committee work, parent teacher conference nights, etc.
- Supporting the Principal with supervision of students.
- Fostering a love of agriculture in all students.
Coaching vacancies are anticipated. Willingness/ability to coach is not a priority in the hiring process.
