This morning Governor Walz announced that all Minnesota public schools will close to students from Wednesday, March 18, 2020 through Friday, March 27, 2020.  The purpose of this closure is to allow school staff the necessary time to create plans for distance learning.  The Minnesota Department of Education is defining distance learning to mean that “a student receives daily interaction with their licensed teacher(s) and appropriate educational materials”.  Under the governor’s directive, Hancock Public School will be closed starting March 18 through March 27, 2020.  During this period, staff will work to develop a distance learning plan that ensures required services and an equitable education are provided to all of our students in the event that extended distance learning is necessary.  This is an ever-evolving situation and one that is new to all of us, so please be patient.  We will continue to work hard to ensure the safety of our students and staff, and will follow the guidance of the Minnesota Department of Education, the Minnesota Department of Health and the CDC in regards to the response to, and prevention of, COVID-19.  Hancock Public School will do it’s best to keep you informed as changes occur.
